Friends and Neighbors Thrift Shop and Food Pantry is a nonprofit outreach of Whitefield Community Baptist Church located at 27 Jefferson Road, Whitefield.  The Thrift Shop and Food Pantry were established because of our desire to follow Jesus Christ’s command to love our neighbor.

Proceeds from the Friends and Neighbors Thrift Shop are used to help those in need from the town of Whitefield and other surrounding towns.  We always appreciate your help in supplying donations of clean clothing, furniture and household items.

Please call us at 837-9044 if you need assistance in picking up your items.  If you have any question or would like to volunteer, we’d welcome your call.

What sets Friends & Neighbors apart from other Thrift Stores?  Why shop at or donate to Friends & Neighbors?

Friends & Neighbors Thrift Store and Food Pantry is a ministry of Whitefield Community Baptist Church with a vision to reach people of the Whitefield area with the love of Christ.  While there have been differing visions at times, it's call to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in both a concrete and spiritual form has always been central.

Ever since we started, 9 ½ years ago, the thrift store has progressed from just getting by, to now having the ability to extend help and assistance when needed. This is done not only through goods and service provided, but also cash assistance through Catholic Charities. The thrift store and the food pantry is run by wonderful caring and faithful volunteers, who enjoy greeting the customers with a smile and giving assistance when needed.  You ask what makes it worth-while to be a volunteer at Friends & Neighbors?  It’s a child asking how much a toy costs and because he was so polite you give him a good deal.  How about adults who needs a new jacket or a pair of shoes but can’t afford them?  We take care of them and see them leave relieved and happy.  Or how about people who come to share a burden or just say, “I need help.” Thanks to our weekly prayer time and God’s guidance we deal with all of it.  Sometimes we do what we can and then refer them to Catholic Charities who then help them further – a true team effort.

Everything that’s for sale in the store has been donated by people like you. Thank you!!!  We accept clothing, household items and furniture in clean good condition during store hours.  We also do cleanouts.

Our Food Pantry is operated by certified trained volunteers.  Cash donations are used to purchase food from the NH Food Bank and also pay our rent and electricity. The Food Pantry has its own bank account.  The Friends & Neighbors Food Pantry relies on cash donations as well as donations of nonperishable goods from our local churches and other local organizations and groups, as well as from concerned citizens of the community.  The Food Pantry is for people in need of assistance who reside in Whitefield, Dalton, Jefferson, Twin Mountain, or Bethlehem.

Shopping

We offer a wide variety of items for sale, such as summer and winter clothing, books, games, puzzles, glass ware, curios, and household items.  Our inventory changes frequently.  Come and shop at the friendliest thrift store in the North Country.
