"Pentecost marks the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples and the beginning of the church’s global mission. It is celebrated on the Sunday that falls on the 50th day of Easter. The name comes from the Greek word "pentekoste," meaning "fiftieth". Pentecost represents the consummation of the first harvest and the arrival of the Israelites at Mount Sinai. The goal of Pentecost is mission, with the aim that "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord"."
